The set-up involves unrolling and spreading the balloon out on the ground. You will be amazed at how much the balloon weighs! Once the balloon is laid out on the ground, it is time to inflate the balloon. Large fans fill the balloon with air, and then the burner is turned on to heat the air. As the air is heated, the balloon will slowly rise. Once the balloon is full inflated and upright, it is time to hop in and fly.

Pagosa Springs History and Landmarks

During the flight your pilot will give you a history of the area, pointing out different landmarks, including the old railroad tracks that were used when the area was logged. He will also orient you with the surrounding mountains, and if it is a clear day, he will even show you where New Mexico and Arizona are. The winds determine your flight path, so no flight is ever the same. The flight itself will last 30 minutes.

After landing you are welcome to help deflate and pack the balloon back up. Once everything is packed away, you will be transported by van back to the launch site. Your adventure will end with a closing ceremony to celebrate your flight. During a champagne toast, your pilot will tell you the story of how hot air balloon travel originated. The adventure ends with presentation of your individualized flight certificate.
