The Turkey Creek Trail Hike begins at Jackson Mountain and ends at Piedra Pass on the Continental Divide Trail. Note that ATVs are allowed on the first 3 miles of the trail. After the 3 mile mark the trail is only accessible for hiking and horseback riding. Turkey Creek Trail Hike weaves between Eagle mountain and Saddle mountain and above the treeline for the last 4 miles. Due to the length and steep climb toward the treeline, Turkey Creek Trail Hike is moderately difficult.
- Elevation Start: 8295ft
- Elevation at Peak: 11,450ft
- Trail: One Way

- Turkey Creek Trail #580
The first 3 miles of the hike follow an ATV trail and is an easy hike with some undulation. About 1 mile into the hike, is the first water crossing. It is actually an irrigation ditch which feeds farms and ranches downstream, and thus will always be flowing. If you’re lucky, a modest bridge will keep you from getting your feet wet.
At the 2.5 mile marker, the path opens up into a large meadow along the river. Vere off the trail and down towards the river. The view is nice, and sometimes you may see some elk hanging around. This is a perfect place to rest, have a picnic, or even camp.
The meadow also marks the beginning of the non-motorized vehicle trail. Past the meadow, the trail weaves through more woods and meadows as it runs between Eagle Mountain and Saddle Mountain, towards the Piedra Pass interconnection. The trail passes Turkey Creek Lake at approximately 12 miles. This is another nice place to camp.
