Pagosa Peak is the back drop of Pagosa Springs Colorado and the towns namesake. Rising to 12,640 feet above sea level, it’s the highest peak near Pagosa Springs and is located in the Weminuche Wilderness area of the San Juan National Forest.
Hiking Pagosa Peak
Pagosa Peak is the one mountain that everyone knows, and many ask about hiking Pagosa Peak. It is possible, however the trail is primitive and steep. Combine in the high elevation, hiking Pagosa Peak can be difficult. The Anderson Loop trail is the most popular access point to the peak, but many locals know of other trails that exist.
