I’m an Alltrails.com pro subscriber and use the mobile application for most hikes. If you are an avid hiker, I’m sure you have heard of Alltrails. Using the service is a good option when hiking in Pagosa Springs Colorado.
The web application is free to use and provides trail information, photos of the hikes, maps and reviews from hikers. However, a subscription is needed to use the mobile application, and for offline maps. I have found this to be worthwhile and pay for the subscription, around $30/year, for the service.
I started to use Alltrails in May of 2020, so the full year statistics that the service provides are from May until December. Due to the pandemic, hiking was a great option to get outside and socially distance. The recordings included only hike trails that where I wanted to capture the stats but also view the maps during the hike.
Alltrails Year End 2020 Review Statistics
Only $2.50 a day, the Alltrails Pro account is worth the costs for most hikers that are outside hiking at least once a month. I find the offline maps to be more useful on advanced and longer hikes that are more difficult to navigate. Easy trails are marked and a real-time map or direction are not needed. In this case, the benefit is from statistics and historical record keeping only.
For 2021, I would like to increase the number of hikes completed during the year. This includes adding several multi-day hikes that require camping. Many options are available in the Pagosa Springs area for longer hikes.
I’m a big fan of hikes that offer elevation changes, so mountain hikes are a favorite of mine. My Alltrails year end 2020 review statistics show that I climbed over 15,000 vertical feet. I feel that this can be improved upon for the 2021 year since several of the hikes I completed included several thousand feet of elevation gain such as the Coal Creek Hike, Williams Creek Hike and V Rock Hike. I’m looking forward to potential hikes along the Continental Divide trail using the Alltrails service.
